Event Details

Join us at the Library for a special screening of Iowa PBS' new documentary, "Carrie Chapman Catt: Warrior for Women."   The one-hour documentary will be followed by a facilitated discussion.

This compelling one-hour documentary tells the story of Iowan Carrie Chapman Catt and the women’s suffrage movement. 2020 is the centennial anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women in the U.S. the right to vote. The amendment was passed by Congress June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920.

Central to the fight for women’s suffrage in the U.S. was an Iowan, Carrie Chapman Catt. She devoted most of her life to the expansion of women’s rights around the world as well as international peace – and is recognized as one of the key leaders of the American women’s suffrage movement.  Visit iowapbs.org/cattwarrior for more information about this compelling program!
