Are you interested in taking on a
volunteer leadership role with a nonprofit organization, a school, your
church, or local city government?
There are some fundamental responsibilities that exist for board members no matter the type of organization. This introductory workshop will give you an overview of those responsibilities, focusing on six key roles board members perform: advocate, evaluator, fiduciary, fundraiser, networker, and strategist. Attendees will get an opportunity to ask questions and engage in several common scenarios nonprofit board members encounter.
This workshop will be led by Paul Thelen, JD, Director of the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center at the University of Iowa.
This program will be presented via Zoom. Be sure to include an email address to receive the link for the meeting.
This program is part one of a two-part series designed to give you an overview of board service. Part two will cover the fundamentals of Robert Rules of Order. For more information on the second session and to register, go to the November event calendar and click on the November 10 event "Basics of Parliamentary Procedure."
